This evening I walked in on Adrie making out with her closet which is double mirrored. I thought oh brother this already. I thought it was cute and took a pic. It almost looks like she is kissing her twin. Funny. She loves to look at herself in the mirror and is so girly, hopefully the obsession fades because it drives me crazy. She throws fits for herself in the mirror, makes funny faces and obviously kisses herself. Well, tomorrow is the big day. Wish me luck. I will be in isolation until about Friday I believe. I joked with some friends about why they didn't just cast me away to a tropical island for the week as long as I had to be away from my family. I could be the only one there and clothes would definately be optional. Better than a hospital gown. We agreed that that would be great but that I would kill all the fish with my radiation if I swam in the ocean. It would make fishing a breeze. Wish me luck and thanks to all for all of your support, kind words and most of all prayers. God is good! Luvs, JaY

Yummy!
Conan and Adrie had lasagna and grans biscuits for dinner while I had an iodine free chicken sandwich. Don't get me wrong my dinner was good, but from the first sniff of those biscuits I was coveting their dinner. It's not a wonder being that I've been on iodine restrictions since the 12th. Oh well, I got to enjoy watching Adrie eat her biscuit. So cute and so messy.

Mommy....His Eyes Are Broken?

Thanks Conan. Last night we watched some of the neighborhood ball as Adrie was winding down for bed. Stevie Wonder sang and Adrie asked why he was wearing glasses. We were both quiet for a moment and then Conan told her in a sad tone that his eyes are broken. Big oooops. I then said oh it's just too bright, but that didn't do it. I was worried that because I wear glasses that she might think my eyes were broken. Sure enough. As we were going through our nightly bedtime routine Adrie said over and over "his eyes are broken?" to which I would say yes honey but it's okay. Our routine usually takes a max of 15 minutes and last night it took over 30 minutes because she was so disturbed. At one point she reached up and touched my glasses and said "mommy's eyes broken?" The poor child was traumatized. I finally said Adrie it's okay now no more talking about it....then she had a melt down "HIS EYES ARE BROKEN!!!!!!" My goodness. To calm her down I asked her if she would like to pray for him. So as we said our bedtime prayers we included Stevie Wonder that he may know the Lord and have restored site whether on earth or in heaven. Did that work you ask.....NO! I had to just lay her in bed as she is repeating it over and over "His eyes are broken, his eyes are broken?". So I told her to hurry and go to sleep so that she could go see her cousin Jojo in the morning. She rolled over and promptly went to sleep. Why didn't I try that first. In the morning when she comes in to our room with her sleepy face the first thing out of her mouth is usually "milky" or "I waked up!" but this morning it was "his eyes are broken?" What a goofy girl.

So Far So Good.....
....until today. Okay so since Monday I have been off of my thyroid medication. I have been feeling great up until today. I did feel somewhat rundown but nothing like I expected. Today is my most tired day. In the words of London "I'm so fatigue (fat-i-goo)". I am so blessed to have family and friends to help me out. Yesterday my friend Arlee and her little tike came to visit most of the day and kept Adrie busy. It was fun to watch them play. My in-laws have taken Adrie twice this week and it's nice to know she is getting good attention and lots of yummy treats. My mother in-law Carol has been wonderful. She has been my personal chef and has prepared nearly all of my iodine free meals from bread and muffins to chicken and rice. Such a blessing to have such wonderful Godly people in my life who know when to come in and help where help is desperately needed. Love you all. I have to go nap now. I feel like a new born baby who needs to rest ever 2 hours or less. We'll get there I'll feel human again in no time. Bless.

The Plan
Well, today was my appointment with my oncologist. Originally I had though that treatment would be a piece of cake and after today I find out otherwise. On Monday I have to stop taking my thyroid pill for 2 weeks. I will feel very run down with no energy and probably hate life during this time. I will then have my thyroid levels drawn on the 23rd and if everything is as the good doc wants it to be then treatment will occur on the 27th. If not then I will have to be another week without my medication and have to have my blood levels checked again before we can proceed. When my levels are where they should be I will then be admitted to the hospital to take the radioactive iodine capsule that should kill off any remaining thyroid cells in my body. I will be radioactive for a week or so, but the first 3 days will be spent in the hospital away from everyone. No visitors or anything. I will be in an isolation room and anything I bring in will have to stay there and be disposed of. So the dream of having 3 days of only time to scrapbook has been shattered. When I do return home I will sleep in a different room than Conan and will have to use different hand towels and bathrooms. I will also have to be away from Adrie for another couple of days. I will also have to change my diet for a time. Goodness, I had no idea it would be so hard. I asked my doc how long I would have to wait until we tried for another baby and he couldn't give me a sure answer but it looks like 6 months to 1 year considering all of my post treatment tests come out good. We pray for the treatment time to go by quick and for the cancer to go away and stay away. I didn't realize that thyroid cancer could reoccur. I still have a lot to learn. Please pray for my family during this time. It will be good because God is good and our experience with cancer will only make us stronger.

Okay so I am sure there is more, but for now I am overwhelmed. Anyone want to help knock my list down by cleaning my house....no takers....alright I'll do it. LOL! I also have a few goals for this year the first being, getting caught up obviously. But I also hope to not get so far behind again. I hope to do better with birthday and christmas gifts this year. I want to be more active in church functions and possibly in children's ministry. I want to have a good workout routine because it helps my energy level so much. I want to be a better prayer for myself, my family and others. I want to feel alive. The end of this year has wiped me out. I'm tired of feeling tired and depressed. I want to feel alive and energized. Tee hee hee! Last but not least on my list is I WANT A BABY. My clock has been ticking out of control since August. Wow, God certainly has a way of teaching patience. IF and when it does happen it will be in his timing that's the good news. So until then I will be working on my list and loving my family. Hope 2009 is a huge blessing to everyone.

Swimming Girl
Here is a silly video of Adrie jumping in the pool. My arms got so tired. She loves the water. I'm sure it won't be long before she is swimming like a fish.
Happy Belated Birthday AA!
Better late than never has been my motto this year. I always feel behind, but my new years resolution is to "Catch up" I'll list my to dos on another post. Okay, so here is Adrie's second birthday party which we celebrated at the beginning of December. She was super cute this year and loved celebrating girly girl style. I made simple invites and had simple games and decorations this year and my what a load off that was. Her party was relaxing and fun for me. No crazyness, except for sugared up kiddos that is. Adrie is so great. She is so smart and amazes me every day. Here are a few things she is up to. She loves to play with dollies and is a wonderful mommy, she sings songs and can count to 20. She knows the days of the week and has started going to the bathroom almost completely independently. My parents got her a special step stool for the bathroom and she drags it back and forth from the sink to the toilet to go potty and wash her hands. Stand by assistance only from mom cause she's a big girl and can do it herself. She still has a huge obsession with keys, cell phones, make up, shoes, gum and "lippy". Arlee got AA some chap stick for her birthday and she was in heaven. She makes me laugh everyday and I am so glad to be feeling better so that I can enjoy her. Being sick is too depressing. Anyhow, I love you Adrienne Sloane.
